Lucinda Williams recovered from a stroke. In a conversation with Rolling Stone, the 68-year-old country musician says he spent five weeks in hospital after a blood clot formed in the right side of his brain in November last year. She is out, undergoing physical therapy, and is expected to fully recover.
In the months leading up to the stroke, if not Williams was doing well. He spent his days keeping safe from the ongoing pandemic while performing on the special. livestream compliments, take part in birthday bashes, and recording cover songs on T. Rex, Sharon Van Etten, ug Rock Erickson. But when he was ready to take a bath on November 17th, he suddenly found himself stumbling and unable to walk. Next he found out, he was in the ambulance heading to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where he would be placed in the intensive care unit.
Williams has spent the past six months trying to repair the damage done by the stroke. He now walks with a cane, cannot play guitar, and has chronic pain in his left arm and left leg. However, thanks to the remarkable lack of brain damage, doctors expect the influenced musician with 100% healing.
“What happens when your brain gets all… the wires are crossed and you have to retrain your brain, to tell your arm whatever you want to do. That’s the biggest challenge, ”He said of the healing process.“ I was, like, walking, with the cane and they looked at me and saw how good I was. And then I had to do the hand and arm exercises. It’s really about regaining my strength and mobility, and range of motion. That’s how they work for me. ”
Then release him Grammy nominated new album Good Souls Better Angels last year, Williams planned to do a summer tour with Jason Isbell in 2021. That’s a purpose he’s still looking to find. “I feel good and positive about playing again. We have show schedules with Jason Isbell for late July and we plan to do that, ”Williams said. Rolling Stone. “I don’t know if I’ll stand and sing or I’ll sit like an old man. But we’ll find out.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Williams seems unconcerned with his stroke experience. He said Rolling Stone that she’s still writing lyrics, she recently ambushed a studio session to sing the vocals for a new Chrissie Hynde project, and she remains stress-free in the pan- look at the whole situation. “The main thing is I can still sing. I sang my ass, so that didn’t affect me, ”Williams said. “I can’t be restrained for long.”
