AMC finally dropped the teaser promo for Lucky Hankthe upcoming series adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo’s 1997 novel titled Straight Man. The series is set to make its debut on March 19 on AMC and AMC+.
The video teases Bob Odenkirk’s return to AMC, five months later Better Call Saul ended his six season run. It features the Emmy-winning actor portraying Hank, a college professor who no one likes.
Lucky Hank will center on a mid-life crisis story set at Railton College. The story will be told through the eyes of William Henry Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk), the unlikely chairman of the English department at an underfunded college in the Pennsylvania rust belt.
Odenkirk will be joined by Mireille Enos, Olivia Scott Welch, Suzanne Cryer, Diedrich Bader, Sara Amini, and Cedric Yarbrough along with Kyle MacLachlan, Tom Bower, and Chris Diamantopoulos.
The series will be adapted and executive produced by Aaron Zelman and Paul Lieberstein, with Peter Farrelly attached to direct. The executive producers are Odenkirk, Farrelly, Russo, Naomi Odenkirk, and Marc Provissiero. It is a TriStar TV production of Sony Pictures and Gran Via.
This marks Odenkirk’s latest collaboration with AMC after working with them for over seven years with Breaking Bad prequel series Better Call Saul. For his lead performance in the AMC series, he earned five Golden Globe nominations and ten Emmy nominations including Best Actor in a Drama Series.
