Marshmello And Ray Volpe Team Up For A Must-Listen Dubstep Track, "Old School"

“Old School” may prove to be the biggest dubstep record of the year.

There doesn’t seem to be an “off” button on the breakneck rise of Ray Volpe—and all we can do at this point is hold on for dear life.

the EDM.com Class of 2022 star has joined forces with the chart-topping producer Marshmello for “Old School,” a show-stopping dubstep banger.

You may remember “Old School” from the summer of 2021, when Mello opened the track to open his explosive set at Lollapalooza in Chicago. Fans have been waiting with bated breath ever since.

It was a big moment for Volpe, who battled mental health issues before releasing his breakthrough single, “Laser beam.” That song is still raining hell on the world’s biggest electronic music festival, but it may soon be replaced by “Old School,” a masterstroke that could prove to be the biggest dubstep record of 2023 .

“It’s definitely been a long road – 2019 was a low point for my career and soon after for my mental health,” Volpe said. EDM.com in a intimate interview last year. “I felt that everyone was against this project and that I would never succeed under ‘Ray Volpe.’ That hurts a lot. Especially since it’s not just an alias—it’s my real name. It’s my core. I can’t help but feel hopeless at certain points.”

Meanwhile, Marshmello is busy launching Time of happiness IV, the fourth installment in his long-running album series. He just dropped his third single, “Unity“along with a music video. It is unclear at this time if “Old School” will appear on the album.
