Marvel’s Avengers Art Director Reveals Inspiration for Mighty Thor’s Outfits

Mighty Thor is on its way Marvel’s Avengers straight from another dimension. This version of Jane Foster’s video game is from a world not seen in any Marvel story to date, which means that her costume is also slightly different from her comic book inspiration and her counterpart in the Marvel Cinematic Universe . On a dev blog at Marvel’s Avengers official websiteCrystal Dynamics Art Director Jeff Adams went over what inspired the unique look of their version of the Asgardian goddess.

Her default look, also known internally as her Iconic Outfit, features an eagle -shaped mask that is different from the normal full helmet that the character usually accompanies. It combines light-up discs around his armor to fit the Thor version of Square Enix. Adams reveals that his unique mask is to make him look like a warrior and more fierce, a contrast to Thor’s royal appearance.

The other three costumes that were spotlighted in the post were inspired by various comics featuring Jane Foster as a hero. Mighty Thor from the comics is an obvious inclusion, as well as threads from Jane’s recent turn as Valkyrie. The most exciting addition is Thordis, a reference to the 1977 issue of “What If?” showing what would have happened if Jane Foster had taken on Mjölnir rather than Dr. Donald Blake.

Marvel fans have only a few days to wait before harnessing the power of an alternative Mjölnir universe. Mighty Thor joined Marvel’s Avengers on all platforms on June 28. That will give players ample time to master his set of moves before he can be seen in action on the silver screen in Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8.
