Meet ER Fightmaster, the First Non-Binary Doctor in Grey’s Anatomy

ER Fightmaster not yet ready to hang up their lab coat.

On Wednesday, Oct. 27, different reports that the actor, using their pronouns, will remain on Grey’s Anatomy in the role of Dr. Kai Bartley for the addition of season 18. Fightmaster played the first non-binary doctor for the medical drama and has already appeared in two episodes in the new season.

For those in need of a refresher, Dr. Bartley is on the Minnesota-based team led by Dr. David Hamilton (Peter Gallagher), who is currently working on a drug for Parkinson’s disease. How does it fit in by Gray account? Well, Dr. Hamilton — a doctor from Dr. Hamilton’s mother’s background. Gray — offers the leading woman a great career opportunity: to run her own research lab. But that’s enough!

Fightmaster’s neuroscientist character has been described as “extremely talented” and “confident hell” on ABC. Oh, and, per network, the new doctor on the scene seems to be connected to Dr.’s brother-in-law. Gray, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone). Could there be a potential romance being created here? We believe yes, because it is Grey’s Anatomy after all.
