While a Meshuggah album is expected this year, no formal details are available so far. The teaser clip posted on social media by the Swedish extreme-metal band reveals Luminokaya’s flaming artwork and loudly chugging guitar grooves-a taste of the future.
“The title [Immutable] very fit for where we are as a band, ”guitarist Mårten Hagström said in the band’s Facebook post. “We are old now. Most of us are in our 50s now, and we have settled on who we are. Even though we’ve been experimenting with everything, I also think we’ve been the same since day one.
He continues: “The way we approach things and why we’re still making new albums, and why we still sound like that, it’s not going to change. People can’t change, either. We always do. made the same mistakes. And we can’t change. We do what we do, and we don’t change. “
Unchangeable recorded at Sweetspot Studios in Halmstad, Sweden, and mixed by Rickard Bengtsson and Staffan Karlsson. Vlado Meller (Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down) is in charge of the mastering. It marks the band’s first album in nearly six years, after 2016 The Violent Sleep of Reason.
According to the album announcement, pre-orders for the new album on CD, vinyl, and cassette will go live on Jan. 28. The LP’s lead single “will be revealed soon.”
Meshuggah will also tour this year in support of the new record. Announced earlier 2022 US tour dates have been posted due to a health issue within the band. The tour will now launch Sept. 16th in Worcester, Massachusetts, and end Oct. 16th in Atlanta, Georgia. Get tickets through Ticketmaster.
