In an interview with ComicBook.com, Cobra Kai ‘Co-creator Jon Hurwitz, talks about Miguel’s future in the series after the karate ace decides to leave his house to find his biological father at the end of season 4. Season 5 on Cobra Kai filming is over, fans speculate that Maridueña’s involvement with DC’s Blue beetle was the reason for Michael’s departure. Hurwitz talks about the creative team’s decision to leave Miguel, revealing that the decision is related to the overall theme of the show. Read what Hurwitz has to say below:

“One of the major themes of Children’s Karate franchise and indeed of Cobra Kai as well as, teachers and students, parents and children. So when Miguel is the topic, we’ve been talking about his father since the beginning of the series. It’s something that’s always been on our mind, that we’ll examine where Miguel came from and who his father was at some point. Just as Miguel feels it’s too late for him and Johnny to have the strongest leg they’ve ever had, the scene at the end of episode eight takes place, where Johnny is drunk. And it reminds me of Miyagi being drunk Children’s Karate. And Michael went in and took care of him. And there’s this kind of loving scene between the two of them, which ends with Johnny saying, ‘I love you too, Robby.’ ”
