New Barbie Trailer Shows Margot Robbie Facing an Existential Crisis


A new one Barbie trailer was released, showing viewers more of the titular character’s journey into the real world.

The trailer depicts Margot Robbie’s Barbie becoming curious about the concepts of death and existence, which leads her to enter the real world at the behest of Kate McKinnon’s Barbie to learn more about life. He’s unexpectedly joined by Ryan Gosling’s Ken, leading to the duo causing mayhem as a couple of real-world toy characters.

The live-action Barbie movie directed by Margot Robbie (Me, Tonya, The Suicide Squad), who also serves as a producer through his LuckyChap banner. The project is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Greta Gerwig from a screenplay she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach.

They were joined by Robbie Ryan Gosling (La La Land), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Ariana Greenblatt (Love and Monsters), Alexandra Shipp (tick, tick ) …BOOM!), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), Issa Rae (Insecure), Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Hari Nef (Transparent), Will Ferrell, Helen Mirren, and more.

The film is produced by LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerly and Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner, alongside Josey McNamara and Ynon Kreiz. This marks Robbie’s latest collaboration with Warner Bros. Pictures after starring as fan-favorite anti-hero Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad, 2020’s Birds of Prey, and 2021’s The Suicide Squad.
