A week later was announced as headliner for 2021 Punk Rock Bowling festival in Las Vegas, NOFX lowered the fee. The band famously laughed on stage about the gruesome shooting at the Route 91 Harvest country festival in Vegas a few years ago, and revealed in a new statement that they have received “messages of hatred and threats” since it was revealed. how many weeks.

NOFX is one of three headliners announced for Punk Rock Bowling, leading the charge along with Circle Jerks and Devo. They were replaced in the lineup of the legendary punk act Descendants, with NOFX frontman Fat Mike saying, “The king is so cool that we’ve been replaced by a much better band!”

In May 2018, NOFX made some headlines ridiculously crude about October 2017 shooting the majority killing more than 50 people at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival. While NOFX performed on stage at the 2018 Punk Rock Bowling festival, Fat Mike said, “We played a song about Muslims and we weren’t shot. Hooray!” To whom guitarist Eric Melvin said, “Maybe there you’re only shot in Vegas when you’re in a band, “with Fat Mike adding,” At least they’re country fans and not punk rock fans. “

Needless to say, the stage banter made national news headlines, and resulted in NOFX being “canceled” in the following months. They were even taken out of the bill for their own Punk at the Drubliko festival.

Three years later, the topic remains sensitive, particularly Las Vegas, with NOFX acknowledging a new statement from Fat Mike explaining how they dropped the 2021 Punk Rock Bowling bill:

“I’ve been playing and bowling at Punk Rock Bowling from the beginning when there were only 22 teams. PRB is my favorite time of year. Like most of you, I just can’t see my favorite bands, but I also saw my punk friends from high school. This event is my reunion, this is my convention, and this is my church…. I’m excited to reign supreme this year… .. but sadly that we’re not going in. NOFX had a meeting this week and decided we wouldn’t play as respect that the wounds were still healing. There were a lot of messages of hatred and intimidation because we were on the bill, It just felt wrong. we said we were saying bad things that caused it, so we got it.Sorry everyone who wants to see us.It needs to be in a different town.I hope we can see you all in Vegas when the time is right s. But not All Sucks, I talked to Milo yesterday…. And he’s with! Those who claim to choose have a place! It’s pretty f ** king cool that we’ve been replaced by a much better band! I wish I was there to see them. ”
Actually very sincere, Fat Mike and NOFX. ”

Punk Rock Bowling was held September 24th-26th at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center. In addition to the headliners, the bill boasts a lot of punk and hardcore work, including Frank Turner, Streetlight Manifesto, Lunachicks, The Menzingers, Leftover Crack, Gorilla Biscuits, Anti-Flag, Murder City Devils, Municipal Waste, The Bronx, The English Beat, The Queers, Youth Brigade, and more.

The festival was postponed last year due to the pandemic, with many of the scheduled 2020 artists signing up to play at the 2021 festival. However, a number of overseas bands will no longer be able to play due to travel bans, which will lead to some significant changes to the original 2020 lineup.
