Pooh Shiesty faces life in prison for allegedly shooting a man in the butt, but after reaching an agreement with prosecutors, he pleaded guilty to a minor conspiracy case to possess a firearm to perpetuate violent and drug-trafficking crimes, Rolling Stone reports.

The 22-year-old rapper, born Lontrell Williams, is accused last year after the shooting. Prosecutors argue that Williams and his associates met with the two men at the Landon Hotel in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, with the intent to buy marijuana and high-end sneakers.

The deal is believed to have gone wrong, which ended with Williams shooting someone in the back, while his partner shot another man in the hip. They allegedly fled the scene but they left a Louis Vuitton bag containing $ 40,912 cash. The serial number on one of the bag bills matched a bill Williams posted on Instagram of a picture with multiple guns.

Williams has been in custody since June, having been arrested for another incident. The decision to make a plea deal came after the man allegedly shot in the back, 28-year-old Brandon Cooper, was accused of suspected involvement in a bank-fraud scheme.

“We entered into plea negotiations because there were developments in the case that I think have changed the dynamics of the case,” Williams defense attorney Bradford Cohen said in October.

As part of the deal, prosecutors recommended that Williams serve no more than 97 months in prison. Magistrate Judge Lauren Fleischer Louis accepted the guilty plea, while warning the rapper that his sentencing judge, Chief Judge K. Michael Moore, was not obligated to accept the recommendation.

“If Judge Moore gives you a sentence that is higher than you expected, that will not be the basis for withdrawing your request,” Judge Fleishcher Louis said during the recent hearing. “Do you understand?”

“I understand,” Williams replied. No sentencing date has yet been set.

Last year, Pooh Shiesty released the album Shiesty Season. On Dec. 27, he dropped the new single “Federal Contraband (Freestyle),” which was recorded from prison, and you can check it out below.
