Court Street’s celebration of all things fall is back and better than ever! This family friendly Pumpkinfest is an annual community event started by Mazzone Ace Hardware in 2005. Due to the pandemic, the event has been canceled for the past two years. On October 8, the event will return to its home at 4th area between Court and Clinton Streets.

At this year’s Pumpkinfest, families can expect games, activities, clowns, live music, seasonal food, raffles, photo booths, and more. And, of course, there are pumpkins. “We have thousands of pumpkins for people to decorate in the area or take home,” said event organizer and Ace Hardware Store Manager Elizabeth Civiletti.

Originally, Pumpkinfest consisted of several tables for carving and coloring pumpkins. “About 10 minutes after the first event started, we knew we needed a bigger venue,” Matt Mazzone said.

Over the years, Pumpkinfest has grown in size and scope, developing a goal-driven agenda. In 2013, the Mazzone Family partnered with the Children’s Miracle Network and its local affiliate, the Cohen Children’s Medical Center, to help provide children with life-saving medical assistance. Matt Mazzone estimated that more than 3,000 people attended the last Pumpkinfest in 2019, raising more than $10,000 for charity in six hours.

Mazzone expects this year’s Pumpkinfest to be the best yet. “We are fortunate to be associated with some amazing partners like Ace Hardware, Benjamin Moore, Big Green Eggand the Cohen Children’s Medical Center, as well as local businesses such as Via-Roma Pizza, and B&D Plumbing.

In addition to having fun, families in attendance and sponsors can feel good about Pumpkinfest’s mission. The Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit that helps more than 10 million children each year. 100% of donations go to local hospitals to fund critical life-saving treatments and health care services, pediatric medical equipment, and emotional support for families during difficult hospital stays, as well as financial assistance for families in need.

Pumpkinfest runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 8th. More information is available by calling (718) 624-8494. Mazzone Ace Hardware is a third generation family owned and operated local business serving the Brooklyn community for over 72 years.
