Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to introduce the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Kang the Conqueror, a job that director Peyton Reed says the team behind the film is excited to take on.
Speaking to Nerdbunker in a recent interview, Reed said the crew behind the film relished the responsibility of introducing Kang to the MCU, and was excited about the possibilities of “making him” and “figuring out who he is.” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
“We want responsibility,” Reed said. “We wanted to put Ant-Man and the Wasp up against one of the biggest villains in the Marvel Comics universe. I loved Kang as a kid, and to be able to create him, and know who he is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that’s always a fun thing, getting these characters to have relationships with people in the comics and find out what’s in the movie. Because they’re two very different things.”
Along with Kang, the upcoming sequel will also introduce MCU newcomer Kathryn Newton (The Society, Freaky) as she now takes over the role of Cassie Lang, a character previously portrayed by Abby Ryder Fortson Ant man films and Emma Fuhrmann in End game.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania Peyton Reed directed again from a screenplay written by Jeff Loveness. The action-comedy superhero sequel will be released on February 17, 2023.
