R. Kelly’s Federal Trial in Chicago Now Set for August 2022

R. KellyThe trial for child pornography and obstruction charges in an Illinois federal court is also set to begin Aug. 1, 2022, according to Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times. The settlement is originally set will begin on April 27, 2020 in Chicago, but is already over lasted several times because of both of the pandemic and in Kelly’s separate trial in federal court in Brooklyn, New York. This trial ended on Sept. 27 with Kelly found guilty on racket and sex trafficking. He faces the possibility of decades in prison if he is sentenced, which is set for May 4, 2022.

Kelly is filed in federal lawsuit in Illinois in July 2019. Kelly was charged with 13-count charges of creating and receiving child pornography and persuading minors to engage in criminal sexual activity. He also charged with conspiracy to intimidate victims and conceal evidence – including the investigation that led to his trial in 2008 in the state’s child pornography case (and ultimately abswelto). He pleaded not guilty to all charges. Kelly is also awaiting trial on other sexual misconduct charges in the state. Minnesota and Illinois.
