E !: What do you like about Express shopping?
RZ: I think there’s comfort in knowing what you get. There is real comfort in knowing the quality of a product you can get. Very consistent. With Express, I think people have been shopping there for a long time. There’s a reason it stays strong when so many brands don’t survive. They have really suited customers for many years and have been able to stay modern but true to the brand.
E !: You work for Reunited Clothing Executive Creative Director Hilda Batayneh on this line almost. Tell me about putting together the collection that way.
RZ: Interesting. I’m definitely away from almost the whole process. It’s such a process because I’m definitely not that kind of person. So, I really want to be very involved every step of the way. It turned out to be very unique. Working with Hilda and the Express team was very smooth. Even the virtual fittings are unique.
E !: What three words would you use to describe the collection?
RZ: I would say effortless, classic, and glamorous.
E !: I like that combination because I don’t think people often pair “effortless” and “glamorous”.
RZ: That’s really been my mantra all my life, trying to be effortlessly glamorous. When a lot of people think of beauty, they describe ball gowns and diamonds and that’s not what it should be. I think you can glamorize a simple, quick task with tan pants and a pair of flats or even just wear and gold earrings on your dress. Glamor is a state of mind.
