Ray Stevenson, who starred in movies like RRR and Punisher: War Zone, has died at the age of 58.
Stevenson’s agent said THR that the actor died on Sunday, May 21 — four days before his 59th birthday. According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the actor was hospitalized on the island of Ischia during the production of the movie Cassino in Ischia.
Stevenson stars in the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series Ahsoka, where she plays the role of one of the main antagonists, dark Force user Baylan Skoll. Production on Cassino in Ischia has just begun, where Stevenson plays an aging action movie star who goes to Italy to try to revive his career.
The actor played the role of Volstagg in the Thor movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as the role of Frank Castle/The Punisher in Punisher: War Zone in 2008. Another major role was that of Titus Pullo in the HBO series Rome, while more recently, he played the villainous governor Scott Buxton in RRR.
Stevenson is survived by his wife Elisabetta Caraccia and his three children: Sebastiano, Leonardo, and Lodovico.
