Red Hot Chili Peppers shared another new song from their upcoming album Return to the Dream Canteen. The latest cut is titled “Eddie,” following the previous single “Tip My Tongue.” The song nods to the late Eddie Van Halen, who died in October 2020, with Anthony Keidis singing, “It’s only 1983/Please don’t remember me/What I did to David/You know I’m talking about David Lee.” David Lee Roth acrimoniously left Van Halen in 1985 after the release of the band’s sixth album 1984. Return to the Dream Canteenwhich arrives on October 14, is the second album from the California outfit this year, after April Infinite Love. Both albums feature contributions from guitarist John Frusciante, who rejoined the band in late 2019 after a 10-year hiatus. Frusciante, who first joined the Peppers in Mother’s Milk in 1989, took another break from the band between 1992 and 1998.
