However Glass Onion: A Knife Mystery just came to Netflix last month, director Rian Johnson already has some ideas that are creating what the third film will look like.
Talked to Empire Magazine recently, Johnson said that the next film he plans to make is the third entry in the Knives Out series and that he has some ideas to create for what will be Benoit Blanc’s next adventure.
“I did the next one [Benoit Blanc movie] next,” Johnson said. “Because this is the most exciting thing right now for me. That really served me well. I feel like with any movie I make, I have to make it because I can’t think of anything else. I’m going to jump to the next Benoit Blanc next because I can’t think of another story… I have a lot of ideas, but they’re not all focused yet. It’s exciting, though, and it’s very different from this. That’s what I’m nervous about.”
Glass Onion: A Knife Mystery once again written and directed by Rian Johnson, who produced the film with Ram Bergman through their T-Street Productions banner. The sequel follows Daniel Craig’s Detective Benoit Blanc as he travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects.
Together with Daniel Craig are Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Edward Norton (Fight Club), Janelle Monáe (Hidden numbers), Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision), Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), Kate Hudson (Almost Famous), Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks), Jessica Henwick (Love and Monsters), and Ethan Hawke (harm).
