Ring of Honor Wrestler Jay Briscoe has died at the age of 38


The wrestling world has lost a champion.

Jay Briscoewho wrestled with his younger brother Mark Briscoe for the professional wrestling promotion Ring of Honor, has passed away at the age of 38, according to the organization’s CEO Tony Khan.

“Unfortunately, Jamin Pugh died,” Khan wrote in a tweet on January 17, referring to Jay by his birth name. “Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he has been a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show to the present day.”

Khan continued, “Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We will do everything we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin.”

The cause of death was not given.

The news of Jay’s death comes almost a year after the Briscoe Brothers inducted into the inaugural class of the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame. Having wrestled with the organization since they were teenagers, Jay said during the induction that he and his brother were “humbled” by the honor.

“All we want are big-time fights,” he said tweet January 2022, “and we are blessed to work for a company that has given us that opportunity for 2 decades.”
