Steve Grimmett, the longtime singer of UK metal band Grim Reaper, has died at the age of 62. The sad news was reported on social media by his brother and his son, whose cause of death has not yet been reported. .

After the band first formed in 1979 as part of the new wave of British heavy metal, guitarist Nick Bowcott essentially re-formed Grim Reaper with Grimmett on lead vocals in 1982. The band released in three albums: See you in Hell (1983), Fear No Evil (1985), and You are a rock in Hell (1987).

After their split in 1988, they became famous again when their videos were shown Beavis and Butt-Head in the 1990s.

Grimmett re-formed the band without Bowcott as Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper in 2006, and they are still active today. During the group’s second chapter, they released two more albums: Walking in the Shadows (2016) and At the Gates (2019).

In 2017, while traveling in South America, Grimmett suffered from an infection in his right leg, which required a partial amputation. He continued to tour and record with the band, and it was announced in early 2022 that Grim Reaper was working on a new album.

His brother Mark Grimmett wrote, “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have to tell you all because so many of you knew him that my very talented brother Steve Grimmett has sadly passed away. passed away today, my heart goes out to his wife Millie. my Mom and Dad, Russell, Sami and Ethan.”
