Rough Trade to Launch Free Festival Indieplaza at Rockefeller Center in New York

Rough Trade is curating a new and free festival called indieplaza, arriving at New York’s Rockefeller Center plaza on September 17 and 18. For the inaugural bill, the venerable store and label chose A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad to headline, along with Yaya Bey, Mary Lattimore, Claud, Horsegirl, Automatic, Si King Hannah, They Hate Change, and Cola among others set to be shown. Nasud sa Linpulongan will play a DJ set.

The festival will also include a band merchandise market, music-making workshops, and food and drink from local businesses, according to a press release.

Since the Rough Trade record store moved from Brooklyn to Rockefeller Center in June, it has hosted a concert series at the Rainbow Room and contributed to what the press release called “the cultural transformation of midtown” Manhattan. You can RSVP for Indieplaza at Dice.
