English trip-hop veterans Sneaker Pimps announced their return with Rotate the Circle, the group’s first new album since 2002 Bloodsport. The full length is due this fall, with the title track released as the lead single on July 9th.
Rotate the Circle written, produced, and produced by founding members Chris Corner and Liam Howe. Corner set up the vocals with featured actress Simonne Jones. Check out a preview of the terrifying piano ballad “Squaring the Circle” below.
Running 16 tracks high, the album was recorded at Sawtooth Studios in Pioneertown, California and The Tower Studios in London, UK. Sneaker Pimps spotted the social media project earlier this year and laid out digital breadcrumbs last month.
“IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME AND MANY MISTAKES HAVE STARTED TO GET THE SNEAKER PIMPS INTO THE GAME,” writes Twitter. “SOMETIMES WE NEED TO GET BACK TO THE PUNOK AND BREAK THE UNIVERSE TAKE CONTROL. I AM CONFIRMED AND CONFIDENT THAT SUCH HAS JUST HAPPENED. OFFICIALLY WE HAVE NEW MUSIC.
The Sneaker Pimps are best known for their 1996 hit “6 Underground”, featuring the sounds of former lead singer Kelli Ali, who left the group after their 1996 breakout, Became X. The song precedes No. 15 on the UK Singles Chart and Number 45 on the Billboard Hot 100. Also visit the track below.
Digital and vinyl pre-order continued.
