The White Lotus booked for Aubrey PlazaThe gig is hosting Saturday Night Livebut it offers an alternative experience at the resort of “The Black Lotus” with “all the decadence all the intrigue, none of the madness.”
In a send-up of the upscale, HBO destination drama, Kenan Thompson and Ego Nwodim lead “a staff that has no time for this nonsense” against familiar hotel guests like Jennifer’s Tanya Coolidge, portrayed by an unrecognizable Chloe Fineman, and the aspiring local singer, played by Heidi Gardner, whose scheme to replace in-house talent is foiled by Kenny at the Kirk Franklin Lounge.
Plaza makes his entrance as a cocky bartender who gives some harsh but reasonable advice to the young, deluded stand-in for Season 2 character Albie, speaking for viewers. by asking, “What’s wrong with you? What do you think is going to happen?” Later, he attacks an angry guest after he finds them beating Thompson’s chest, and Kenan responds by ending with “Welcome to Black Lotus, bitch!” Watch the clip below.
Plaza’s visit to Saturday Night Live definitely inspired from his role in The White Lotus this year, but the hosting place is a long time coming for “iconic” actress. His performance was preceded by a Tonight Show look where he is shares her SNL audition horror story as well as an episode promo where he Revelation, “I’ve been waiting to do this show since I was 12 years old.” Elsewhere during last night’s episode, Plaza and Amy Poehler reprized their characters from Parks and Recreation.
