Sorry, Mr. Secretary – Parents Are Not Domestic Terrorists

If other liberals are wondering why parents of children attending public school are aggrieved and disappointed, they no longer need to look at the story yesterday that proved that Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and his staff equated the protesting mothers and fathers at school board meetings to domestic terrorists.

You may recall the news last fall that the National School Boards Association (NSBA) suggested parents across the country oppose the teaching of Critical Race Theory, along with wearing a mask and other class-related concerns. , engages in “a form of local terrorism.”

I’m sorry, Mr. Secretary-but mothers and fathers who play an active and caring role in the education of their children are not radical, violent rebels-they are loving, responsible men and women who are deeply involved in shaping and nurturing . to the next generation.

In fact, they do what adults do – they stand for what they believe in an orderly and straightforward way.

The government’s opposition to parents and families is on the rise, and this should alarm everyone, not just those with children at home. It shows a contempt for freedom and an insult to the autonomy and authority that every mom and dad possesses under the United States Constitution.

In many cases, it also represents a violation of religious freedom because many of these objections are rooted in the belief that the government cannot usurp our first principles.

So, what is at the heart of this antagonism?

There is an arrogance, of course-an arrogant belief that “Big Brother” is better known and anyone who dares to interfere, or question government authority, is somehow an enemy of the state. . Sit down, be quiet – and follow.

Last November’s election should have been noticed by any politician who tries to usurp the authority of mothers and fathers. Loving and caring for our children are not partisan issues. Parents are ultimately responsible for their child’s education. Enrolling a child in a public school is not an abduction of parental authority.

Transparency is critical and we should all be relieved that this horrible and insulting behavior has been exposed. We need to remain vigilant and engaged – with our elected and appointed representatives accountable.

Keep up the pressure moms and dads. Our Focus on the Family team stands with you and is ready and constantly striving to the public plaza to protect, preserve and defend our God -given and constitutional rights.
