Stacey Read and Ryan Adams

Stacey Read and Ryan Adams had to learn how to act with glasses as part of their roles in the upcoming Syfy The Ark. Ahead of the series’ release on February 1, ComingSoon spoke to the upcoming actors about their preparation for the roles, their favorite sci-fi series, and more.

The Ark takes place 100 years in the future when planetary colonization missions begin as a necessity to help ensure the survival of the human race. The first of these missions on a spacecraft known as Ark One met with a catastrophic event that caused much destruction and loss of life. With more than a year left before reaching their target planet, a lack of life-sustaining supplies and a loss of leadership, the remaining crew must become the best version of themselves to survive on course and survive. “

Tudor Leonte: Stacy, let’s start with you. You describe Alicia, a wonderful young woman. In general, how did you prepare the paper?

Stacey read: I would say that I take a lot from myself, I think, from the character. I like to think that I’m pretty optimistic and Alicia is pretty positive and optimistic, so I like her a lot. The other side of preparation is… he knows a lot of information, so if something comes up in the script about something he knows, I honestly spend hours researching things. . I know random facts about things today that I never thought I would know.

How to describe one of the most knowledgeable people in the galaxy?

read: Very nice. It was nerve-wracking because I was like, ‘I hope I got everything right, that I didn’t mess up my lines.’ I love him so much. I love that he uses his knowledge to help people.

Ryan, you have a great attitude too. Where does Angus Medford’s green thumb come from?

Ryan Adams: I personally have never done any gardening or anything like that in my life, even my mom, she is a big fan of planting flowers. Our garden is very beautiful all down to her. He likes that stuff. When it comes to researching for the paper, I do a lot of reading about horse culture, a lot of YouTube videos, just to see how it all works really. . Like Alicia, Angus has a lot of dialogue where he’s just explaining his job and explaining a lot of difficult words and things like that, which I wouldn’t have known unless I was playing this role. A lot of research, and just trying to get into Angus’ mind for sure.

And your character, of course, comes up with the solution to a very, very sticky moment for the spaceship when he comes up with a way to do some gardening in the spaceship. How can it be the genius of the situation and the people of the moment?

Adams: Very nice, bro. It’s great to be the man of the hour, the genius. Everyone’s character has their moment, I mean, Stacey knows who always saves Alicia’s day. For Angus especially, it was big for him because he was young. He just finished high school, university and more, and now all the lives of the ship depend on him and whether this plan to grow food on the ship will work or not. There was a lot of pressure, but he really tried to shake it off. I mean, these people are geniuses, these are the smartest people on earth. He knew exactly what he was doing.

This one is for both of you. What is the most difficult part of working on a sci-fi series?

read: I don’t know if this is the answer you’re looking for, but Alicia wears glasses. I mean, I wear glasses in real life too. Wearing glasses on set, I never knew there was all that glare. You have to put your head down, put your glasses in a certain way and move in a certain way so that the rays don’t hit your glasses. For me, I found that to be one of the hardest things of the whole season.

Welcome to my world!

Adams: We both have to do a lot of acting glasses. I remember the camera crew always had to be like, ‘Hey, do you want to bow your head a little bit? Thank you so much,’ and then it’s like we’re going to do like this kind of thing, but yeah, it’s better for the camera. It’s a great thing to be a part of a sci-fi show. I’m a big sci-fi fan, so it’s a great honor to be a part of this world and to be a part of a world Jonathan Glassner and Dean Devlin created. A lot of pressure, but very exciting. I am very proud of this.

What is your favorite sci-fi movie or series?

Adams: Star Wars. Star Wars, for sure. i’m big Star Wars fan. I love it. I would kill to be in one of those movies or TV shows one day. That’s the goal. I love it.

How about you, Stacey? Were you into the sci-fi genre before landing this job?

read: I would say my favorite sci-fi series would have to be Who is Dr. I’ve loved it since I first saw it as a kid. Love it now.
