Lung Breaking Singer Steve Harwell took a temporary break from the band to manage his ongoing heart condition.
TMZ reports that Harwell, 54, suffers from cardiomyopathy, a type of heart disease in which the heart muscle becomes enlarged and weak, making it difficult to pump blood.
Since 2015, Harwell has managed the disease with medication, but “now some issues have come up and things need to be fixed,” TMZ notes.
Fortunately, Harwell is around for a while and hopes to return to Smash Mouth on tour late this week. In the meantime, a friend of the band whose identity has not yet been revealed filled as singers on their recent dates. Eve 6 singer Max Collins is there too offered his services.
