Stream Pussy Riot’s Remix of Marina’s song “Purge the Poison”

Electropop actor Marina, formerly known as Marina and the Diamonds, tapped the Russian protest group Vaginal Disorder to tune in to his new solo “Purge the Poison”. Stream it below.

Pussy Riot has partnered with several American artists this year, including Tom Morello, but this remix of Marina finds them shifting a different muscle to the music than usual. Instead of making their turn into political punk, Pussy Riot will rely on Marina’s slick electropop sound – for comparison, check out the original version of the single after the jump – and sprinkle themselves whispering lyrics. According to her own band Nadya Tolokonnikova, contributing to “Purge the Poison” in this way is a dream come true.

“Political pop has always been my dream to be different,” Tolokonnikova explained in a statement. “Fun and contagious,‘ Purge The Poison ’is an ear worm, and it feeds your brain with the right questions and inspires you to think. I was carried away by this track, and it was my pleasure to live the remix ‘Purge” For my part I pondered the topics of brotherhood, womanhood and undeserved power, matriarchy, Christianity, and female sexuality. “

“Purge the Poison” is the lead single from Ancient Dreams of a Modern Earth, Marina’s fifth studio LP and the follow-up to her 2019 double album LOVE + FEAR. It’s almost June 11th. Preliminary orders for the new record that now goes on his website.
