Sunset Rubdown Reunites After 13 Years


Sunset Rubdown will return in spring 2023 to play their first shows since breaking up in 2009, announced Spencer Krug. The beloved oddballs of mid-to-late 2000s indie-rock will play a pair of short North American tours and, according to a press release, may record a new album to- boots. See the dates below.

Formed as a solo project from Spencer Krug, a moonlighting member of Wolf Parade and Frog eyesSunset Rubdown became a bombastic four-piece in the mid-2000s, releasing three critically acclaimed albums: 2006’s Shut Up I’m dreaming2008 that is Random Spirit Loverand 2009’s dragon slayer. (The last one featured Mark Nicol on bass.) After completing the 2009 tour in Tokyo, Krug SAYS later, “The band never talked about the split but we all knew it was happening.” His Moonface project launched in 2010 and released a string of relatively pared-back albums before Wolf Parade. met again in the middle of the decade.
