While there is no official announcement as to who will be the next actor to play the iconic spy James Bond, actor Taron Egerton believes that the role has already been decided and chosen.

Talked to Total Movie magazine for its latest issue, Egerton – who has been involved in the role for several months now – said that he had not actually been part of any conversations, nor had he met producer Barbara. Broccoli. In fact, Egerton says, he thought he already knew the role.

“Yes. I mean, I think they got something, and I didn’t,” said Egerton. “Yes. I mean, I’ve never been a part of those conversations. I have never known Broccolis. They never asked about me. I’ve never been one of those guys they look up to. I don’t think I’m the right person for that. I think there are many, many, better candidates for that role than me. But, you know, I want to be an audience member. They are great films.”

Currently, it is not known who will play the coveted role of James Bond. However, do we know a few things about the next actor to enter the franchise. Last year, producer Michael G. Wilson said that young actors are unlikely to be considered.

Earlier this year, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson worries about becoming “too famous” for the role after he had a meeting with Broccoli about potentially playing the character, suggesting that the producers behind the 007 franchise is looking for a more unknown person to play the role.

Whoever ends up playing Bond will have big shoes to fill, but fans likely won’t be seeing a movie for a long time. Last year, Broccoli noted that a new film “at least two years apart,” due to the fact that a James Bond had to be filmed, and a new film had to be written as well.

“There is no script, and we will not create one until we decide how we will approach the next film because, in fact, it is a reinvention of Bond,” said Broccoli. “We’re reinventing who he is, and that takes time. I would say filming is at least two years away.
