What Happened in Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 Episode 5
“Entombed” takes the titular protagonists on a side quest that may have ramifications for Star Wars in the future. The gang ignores Echo’s pleas to take up arms against the Empire but go on a treasure hunt after Wrecker and Omega find a compass that leads to a lost star system. The episode shows the return of Phee Genoa, who will not miss the opportunity to find the lost treasure because he is an actual pirate. Bad Batch and Phee travel to the Kaldar Trinary system, where they land on a deserted planet. When they come across some mysterious glyphs covering the entrance to an ancient temple-like structure, Pheec suggests that they may have found the Skara Nal, where a crystal stone of great power called Heart of the Mountain is hidden.
After a series of perils and dangers inside the temple, the gang reaches the Heart of the Mountain only to discover that the Skara Nal is a giant robot-like mech – not a temple -, and the Heart of the Mountain is the key to activation. the giant mech. Skara Nal unleashed chaos on the planet with its laser beam until Phee and the others deactivated it in the Heart of the Mountain, leading to the destruction of the mech.
Who Made Skara Nal?
It was very clear to Phee and the others that the Skara Nal was a technology that preceded the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order. According to Phee, Skara Nal is a walker created by the Ancients, a civilization that lived 25,000 years before the events of The Bad Batch and the Star Wars movies. This is not the first time Star Wars refers to the Ancients, as they have been mentioned in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic video games and, more recently, the Andorra Episode 4.
There isn’t much information about the Ancients, save for the fact that they were a highly developed civilization capable of producing powerful weapons. It’s also not clear what Phee means by “Ancients”, since there were different civilizations during the Pre-Republic. Often, their stories belong to Star Wars Legends, but some are starting to become Canon (think Luthen mentioning the Rakatan civilization in Andorra). However, it should not be just a coincidence producers are expanding Star Wars lore with occasional references to pre-Republic days in the latest movies.
