The Encanto Soundtrack removes Adele’s 30 as No. 1 Album on the Billboard 200

After six weeks on the Billboard 200, Adeleof 30 fell on the soundtrack to Beauty, the animated Disney film featuring songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Beauty earned 72,000 equivalent album units for the week ending Jan. 6, with streaming activity making up the majority of that amount. The two most popular songs from the soundtrack, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and “Surface Pressure,” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 50 and No. 54 last week, and is expected to climb even higher. .

The film centers around the Madrigals, a family living in a beautiful place called Encanto, hidden in the mountains of Colombia. Every child in the family has a unique gift except one, Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz), who discovers the magic surrounding Encanto is in danger. On Sunday (January 9), Beauty won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film.

Trailing Beauty on the Billboard 200 this week are two of the biggest artists of 2021: Adele and embattled country singer Morgan Wallen. The former helped reverse the 17 -year decline in CD sales, while the latter was previously No. 1, Dangerous: The Double Album, has now spent 51 non -consecutive weeks in the Top 10 on the chart.
