Netflix has announced that the release date of the Extraction 2 trailer is set for tomorrow, May 15. The news was announced through three new posters for Netflix’s expected sequel. The images tease some of the sequels great action sequencesincluding Hemsworth’s arm being burned during a fight against prison guards that was mocked by first teaser trailer. The film will be available for streaming on June 16.
“After barely surviving the events of the first movie, Rake returns as a black ops mercenary in Australia, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the beaten family of a violent Georgian gangster from prison where they are detained,” reads the synopsis.
Extraction 2 is directed by Sam Hargrave from a screenplay written by returning scribe Joe Russo. The film stars Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani, Tornike Gogrichiani, Adam Bessa, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili, and Olga Kurylenko. Like the 2020 film, it is also made by Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo through their AGBO banner with Hemsworth.
The original film takes place in an underworld of dealers and arms dealers and follows a boy who becomes a pawn in a war between notorious drug lords. It was received positively, with critics praising its action sequences. In the first month of its release, it was the most watched film on Netflix because it got 90 million households.
