Genshin Impact developer MiHoYo may finally add character skins in an upcoming 1.6 update to the game, according to recently shared releases.
MiHoYo, developer of Genshin Effect, may add character skins to the game in its 1.6 update, if new releases are believed. The popular online gacha game now only features different skins for the wind glider, a device used by players to slip through the middle of the air through the open world of the game similar to the paraglider seen The Legend of Zelda: Breath in the Forest. Players will be able to open up a different look for the wind gilder, which is like a pair of wings, in different ways. Just a few months ago, KFC in China running a promotion offered Genshin Effect-marked buckets as well as a limited game skin for the air glider.

The popularity of Genshin Effect, along with the usual release of the content, makes intrusions for the game surprisingly common. The most frequent intrusion consists of characters that have not yet been announced. Just now, information about the 5-star character planned for future 1.6 update leaked, reveals the character’s name to be Kazuha, an Anemo sword user. Genshin Effect Leaks have become so common that MiHoYo is even threatening to stop the beta test program if the leaks are not stopped.
This is the latest leak, which comes in good faith Project Celestia on Twitter, it was revealed that character skins may come to an end Genshin Effect in the next major game update. The account shares screenshots featuring skinny jeans for Jean and Barbara, two of the characters in the game. Named Sea Breeze Dandelion and Summertime Sparkle, each of the dresses has a beach or summer theme, with Jean wearing a more casual outfit than her regular dress and Barbara providing a sailor inspired ensemble. A rendition of Barbara’s 3D costume alternative is also shared, revealing what it will look like in the game.
According to Project Celestia, the released character skins are from the ongoing 1.6 beta test update and, as such, may be downgraded before the patch comes out in the future. Photographs should also be taken with a grain of salt, as should any information not yet officially announced or disclosed. Project Celestia was previously done sharing of released information in the game’s housing system, which proved to be correct when the feature was announced and released along with the 1.5 game update.
Character skins are a form of abundance Genshin Effect fans have wanted and demanded MiHoYo for since the game was released last year. Even if they are only cosmetic, alternative costumes can help change the player’s interest in the characters. The couple will just have to wait a few more weeks to see if the releases are proven right and find out exactly how MiHoYo plans to use the character skins.
