The Last of Us Episode 2 Photos Tease New Character’s Debut


HBO has revealed first look photos from the The Last of Us‘ upcoming second episode, “Infected,” featuring Pedro Pascal’s Joel, Bella Ramsey’s Ellie, and Anna Torv’s Tess. Directed by The Last of Us Game creator Neil Druckmann from a screenplay written by Craig Mazin, the next episode is expected to air this Sunday, January 22.

In the new The Last of Us photos, we see Joel, Ellie, and Tess continue their journey to the Old State House. One of the photos also shows an unnamed character, portrayed by Indonesian actress Christine Hakim, who may be connected to the origin of the virus that fans theorized online from Jakarta.

HBO’s The Last of Us will deal with the events of the first game with the possibility of additional content based on the sequel. The series is led by Game of Thrones alumni Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

“The live-action series takes place 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization,” reads the synopsis. “Joel and Ellie, a couple connected by the brutality of the world they live in, are forced to endure brutal conditions and brutal killers on a journey across a post-pandemic America.”

Together with Pascal and Ramsey are Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Tommy Miller, Nico Parker (Dumb) as Joel’s daughter Sarah, Anna Torv (Mindhunter) as Tess, and Merle Dandridge (The Flight Attendant) as she reprises her role from the video games as Marlene, the leader of a resistance group known as the Fireflies. It also features Jeffrey Pierce (Bosch) as Perry, Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) as Frank, Con O’Neill (Chernobyl) as Bill, and Storm Reid (Euphoria) said Riley.

The live-action series is executive produced and co-written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and original screenwriter Neil Druckmann, who also serves as one of the directors. It is a co-production of Sony Pictures Television with PlayStation Productions. Executive producers are Carolyn Strauss, Naughty Dog President Evan Wells, and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.
