The Last of Us Episode 8 Trailer Features Game Actor Troy Baker


HBO has unveiled the promo trailer for the The Last of Us‘ upcoming eighth episode, titled “When We Are in Need,” directed by Ali Abbasi from a screenplay written by series creator Craig Mazin. The next episode airs this Sunday, March 5.

The video gives us our first look at another episode centered on Ellie, as she continues to care for an injured Joel. It shows Ellie meeting a new group of survivors who include The Last of Us game actor Troy Baker in the new role of James. Baker originally voiced Joel in the video games.

Together with Pascal and Ramsey are Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Tommy Miller, Nico Parker (Dumb) as Joel’s daughter Sarah, Anna Torv (Mindhunter) as Tess, and Merle Dandridge (The Flight Attendant) as she reprises her role from the video games as Marlene, the leader of a resistance group known as the Fireflies. It also features Jeffrey Pierce (Bosch) as Perry, Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) as Frank, Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) as Bill, and Storm Reid (Euphoria) said Riley.

“The live-action series takes place 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization,” reads the synopsis. “Joel and Ellie, a couple connected by the brutality of the world they live in, are forced to endure brutal conditions and brutal killers on a journey across a post-pandemic America.”

The live-action series is executive produced and co-written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and original screenwriter Neil Druckmann, who also serves as one of the directors. It is a co-production of Sony Pictures Television with PlayStation Productions. Executive producers are Carolyn Strauss, Naughty Dog President Evan Wells, and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.
