The Last of Us HBO Series Gets Behind the Scenes

HBO has fallen The Last of Us featurette for the anticipated live-action adaptation of Naughty Dog’s best-selling survival horror game of the same name. The series is scheduled to premiere next week on Sunday, January 15.

The video invites us to the set as HBO gives a behind-the-scenes look at the production of the show while showing some new footage of Joel and Ellie’s dangerous journey. The video also features commentary from the creators and cast who will discuss the characters of Pedro Pascal’s Joel and Bella Ramsey’s Ellie, as well as the process of bringing the video game to life.

The Last of Us The series will deal with the events of the first game with the possibility of additional content based on the sequel. The series is led by Game of Thrones alumni Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.

“The live-action series takes place 20 years after the destruction of modern civilization,” reads the synopsis. “Joel and Ellie, a couple connected by the brutality of the world they live in, are forced to endure brutal conditions and brutal killers on a journey across a post-pandemic America.”

Together with Pascal and Ramsey are Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Tommy Miller, Nico Parker (Dumb) as Joel’s daughter Sarah, Anna Torv (Mindhunter) as Tess, and Merle Dandridge (The Flight Attendant) as she reprises her role from the video games as Marlene, the leader of a resistance group known as the Fireflies. It also features Jeffrey Pierce (Bosch) as Perry, Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) as Frank, Con O’Neill (Chernobyl) as Bill, and Storm Reid (Euphoria) said Riley.

The live-action series is executive produced and co-written by Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and original screenwriter Neil Druckmann, who also serves as one of the directors. It is a co-production of Sony Pictures Television with PlayStation Productions. Executive producers are Carolyn Strauss, Naughty Dog President Evan Wells, and PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.
