Dexter: New Blood star, Clancy Brown, says she wasn’t told how the new series would end, redacting her script after her character’s death.

Dexter: New Blood star, Clancy Brown, was not allowed to know how the new miniseries will end. Brown, a famous character actor, is best known for his performances in Highlander, the Redemption of the Shawshank, Starship Troopers, Promising Young Woman, and Mr. Krabs sa Spongebob Squarepants. Brown joined in Dexter: New Blood cast in January 2021, along with new cast members Jack Alcott, Julia Jones, and Johnny Sequoyah.
Dexter: New Blood is a link to Showtime’s Dexter, who follows the titular serial killer as he confronts his desire to protect his loved one and suppress his urges to kill, encounters another serial killer in Brown’s Kurt Caldwell. The new series comes eight years later controversial ending to Dexterit’s the eighth season. The stars of the series, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, returned to their roles in leading capacity, while David Zayes and John Lithgow returned to cameo roles.
In an interview with Collider, Brown talks about how he wasn’t allowed to know the end of the series after his character was killed in the ninth episode, “The Family Business.” As a staunch fan of the series, Brown was not surprised that his great villainous character would die, but as a result, the script after his death was redacted from him. In the interview, he said he expects to watch the finale this January 9 on Showtime with all the fans of the series. Read Brown’s quote below:
“Ah, yeah, I mean, that’s it Dexter. He cannot survive. We knew he would never live again. We don’t know how, but we know he can’t do it. The last episode, I don’t know what happened to it. Which was completely redacted from me. That’s good. I’m excited to see it. But I read Episode 9. I read until then. And I think it started being redacted right after I was killed. It gives me a reason to listen. “

After Phillips ’departure, the show was criticized for its declining quality, with less compelling villains and more nonsensical twists. After the widely panned finale from 2013, the end of Dexter: New Blood there are many riding on it, with many hoping the series will find redemption after a solid start. With Dexter’s arc involving his son Harrison feeling rich, there’s a new life to the series that hasn’t been felt since Phillips left. Plus, with Brown’s villain gone, fans can only hope for that Dexter: New Blood got the end it deserved.
