The “Rich” in the Yard Act: Stream New Single

Rising British rock band Yard Act unveiled their cheeky new single “Rich” and its accompanying music video. See it below.

In the clip, frontman James Smith plays a reporter named J. Konopinski, who travels around a British suburb interviewing citizens who have won a 50-pence coin lottery. “Almost by accident, I became rich/ Through the constant reward for skilled work in the private sector/ And the real lack of interest in expensive things/ It would appear that I became rich/ And since I became rich, I always lived in fear of losing everything/ That the bubble would burst/ And fall from my side, I would come back again/ To the life I once lived with things I didn’t have/ Before I became rich ”He said. on top of the trademark minimalist guitar for four people.

The terrifying anti-capitalism track follows the singles “The Overload,” “Land of the Blind,” and “Payday” from Leeds, England-based rockers ’upcoming debut album The Overload, which is set to be released Jan. 21 via Island Records.

“’Dato’ is the natural heir to ‘Payday.’ That’s the end of the story isn’t it? Success! Status! Security! Besides, there is always a lot of money to be made, and you are considered a failure when your life starts to go back in the direction it came from, ”Smith said in a statement. “It’s about losing being so sure you know where you are and how you got there. I also wrote this because I thought it would be ridiculous if the Yard Act could make a ton of money after writing i’m an anti-capitalist concept album. It’s funny if i sing this song on stage when i make my mint.Watch the “Rich” Yard Act music video below.
