Tariq “Dark Mind” Trotter, the co-founder and singer of The Rootsannounced his first memoir. The Upcycled Self: A Memoir on the Art of Being Who We Are Out November 14 via One World. Broken into vignettes, the memoir looks at four powerful relationships that shaped Trotter as he grew up and into adulthood. Check out the cover art for it below.
The Upcycled Self found Trotter exploring the questions that define our formative years, according to a statement, such as “How do we see the story of our young lives so clearly? How do we use that story to understand who we are? How can we forgive the people who love and hurt us? How can we discover and honor our first dreams? And finally, what do we carry on, what do we pass on, what do we let go of? ?
Next month, the band will host the 2023 edition of the Roots Picnic where they co-headlined the festival with Diddy and Ms. Lauryn Hill. It is scheduled to take place on June 2-4.
