Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp go to sea for their latest edition of “Sunday Lunch”, while the couple gets married in Heart classic “Barracuda”. The show featured Toyah dressed from head to tail as a mermaid, with the couple also joined by mysterious guitarist Sidney Jake.
Perhaps Toyah was influenced by the literal meaning of “barracuda”, a ferocious fish with toothy teeth. With a blue wig and full mermaid costume, the singer dives into her high register for the cover of Heart’s 1977 hit, as King Crimson Founder Fripp and the interesting Sidney Jake (sporting a Cannibal Corpse shirt) set him up on guitar.
The translation of “Barracuda” follows a couple of performances that show Toyah covered in body paint from waist to toe, including taking The “Happiness” of the Rolling Stones and a version of The Hawkwind “Silver Machine”.
Toyah and Robert’s “Sunday Lunch” show actually went viral at the start of the year with a cover Metallica’s “Enter Sandman”, With Toyah riding an exercise bike while wearing a swimsuit. She also wore a French maid getup (The Motor Ace “Ace of Spades), a costume cheerleader (“Rebel Yell” by Billy Idol), and a bad nurse’s uniform (Alice Cooper’s “Poison”), among other memorable ensemble.
Late last year, the couple rocked an ecccric rendition of “Paranoid” that’s what Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has to say Severe consequences, “I think this lockdown brought to their attention.”
