Tyler, the Creator Receives Cultural Influence Award at the BET Hip Hop Awards: Watch


Tonight in 2021 BET Hip Hop Rewards, the inaugural Rock the Bells Cultural Influence Award was featured on Tyler, the Creator by LL cool J. “Playboi Carti there is a line where he said ‘my mom bought my house this mumblin shit’ and I’m always loud when he says that, ”Tyler said. “This thing is a hobby or a pasttime or a passion for us, a lot of people here, that shit keeps us in trouble. And it allows us to change our family life and the lives of friends. ”

He talked about the importance of hip-hop in changing his life and acknowledged some of his influences. “I actually thought I was making my own path, but it was the people who let me understand that I could do that, who laid the blueprint,” he said. He then thanks a short list of influences: Q-Tip, André 3000, Chad Hugo, Pharrell, Kanye West, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, and Hype Williams.

She ended up being watched by many and inspired young artists including Baby Keem and Yung Bleu. “Everyone keeps progressing, keeps doing your shit, and Call Me If You’re Lost except that. ”See his speech below.

Call Me If You’re Lost, which came out earlier this year, also won the show’s Album of the Year. Will Tyler tour behind the album were Kali Uchis, Vince Staples, and Teezo in 2022. He recently teamed up with Maxo Kream on his solo “Great Person. ”
