Watch Lady Gaga Perform “Hold My Hand” at the 2023 Oscars


Lady Gaga appeared on stage at the 95th Academy Awards tonight (March 12). He performed a stripped down rendition of her Top Gun: Maverick song “Hold My Hand” while choosing a black t-shirt and ripped jeans. He is backed by musicians on guitar, bass, and drums. Watch it happen below.

Before launching the song, Gaga gave a short speech about its importance to her: “I wrote this song with my friend BloodPop for the film. Top Gun: Maverick in my studio basement. This is very personal for me and I think we all need each other. We need a lot of love to walk this life and we all need a hero sometimes. There are heroes all around us in the most unlikely places, but you may find that you can be your own hero even when you feel like you’re broken.

“Hold My Hand” was nominated for Best Original Song this year; it competes with Rihanna’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever track”Lift Me Up,” Lux, Mitski, and David Byrne’s son Everything Everywhere Everything at Once collaboration “It’s A Life,” Sofia Carson’s “Applause” from Say It Like a Ladyand the RRR cut”Naatu Naatu” by Rahul Sipligunj, Kaala Bhairava, MM Keeravani.

Lady Gaga performs “Hold My Hand” with BloodPop® and Benjamin Rice. she flirting the song before it was officially released, writing, “I’ve been working on this for years.” Gaga shared a music video for the single shortly after; the visual includes clips from the 1986’s Top Gun and the 2022 sequel, as well as footage of Gaga singing and playing piano on an airstrip.
