YouTube has removed R Kelly’s Channels in the Light of Belief in Sex Crimes

Order R Kellythe conviction regarding federal sex crimes, YouTube removed two channels associated with the humiliated singer and said he could no longer upload content to the video platform.

Agreed to Reuters, the RKellyTV and RKellyVevo channels were taken from YouTube until Monday. “We can confirm that we have completed the two channels linked to R. Kelly in accordance with the manufacturer’s responsibility guidelines,” a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement.

Kelly’s music catalog remains available on YouTube’s audio-only streaming music platform, and Kelly’s videos are still allowed to be uploaded by other YouTube users.

In response to the news, the #MuteRKelly campaign called on YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Prime Music to take similar steps and remove Kelly’s presence from their respective platforms.

On Sept. 27, Kelly was found guilty of one count of theft based on alleged sexual exploitation of children, kidnapping, and forced labor, and eight count of violating the Mann Act, a law that criminalizes bringing anyone along the lines of state “with intent that such individual engages in prostitution, or in any sexual activity for which any person may be charged with a criminal offense.”

Kelly, 54, faces a possible sentence of a decade in prison. The sentence is set for May 4, 2022.
