Recorded by Tom Skinner's trio and Radioheadof Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood between Oxford and Abbey Road Studios, Eye Wall features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra, with production and mixing credits going to Sam Petts-Davies. It comes as a follow-up to their 2022 debut, A Light For Attracting Attention.
The eight-track project was announced in November last year with the release of title track of the album and its companion The music video directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Previous singles included “Friend of a Friend” — which was first previewed by The Smile's 2022-2023 tour — and “Bending Hectic.”
In his review, RESULTSPraised by Jonah Krueger Eye Wall, calling it a “swirling, vibrant world that distills the foundation of its predecessor down to its bare essentials before allowing what's left to blossom and evolve into its own beast.” He also named “Friend of a Friend” as a standout track, writing that it “quickly established itself as one of the best songs the trio has ever produced.”
