On March 14, ANOHNI and Marti Wilkerson releases Blacklips: His Life and His Many, Many Deaths, a new book about the Blacklips Performance Cult. It is paired with a companion compilation called Blacklips Bar: Androgyns and Deviants – Industrial Romance for Bruised and Battered Angels, 1992–1995. The album is out March 10, via Anthology Recordings, and it features contributions from ANOHNI, Diamanda Galás, Dave Vanian, and more. Below, listen to ANOHNI’s performance of “Rapture” and James F. ANOHNI, Johanna Constantine, and Psychotic Eve formed the avant-garde musical theater troupe Blacklips Performance Cult in 1992. The group of artists, drag queens, punks, nightlife denizens, and students performed new plays on Monday at night at the Pyramid Club on Avenue A in Manhattan. This is ANOHNI’s first music showcase.
