Katy Perry shared a new song called “electrical. ”It was recorded in conjunction with Pokémon’s 25th anniversary, and Pikachu can be seen in the artwork laughing at the song. He is also in the music video of the track, which he directed Carlos Lopez Estrada. See below.

Katy Perry performed “Electric” with Monsters & Strangerz and Jon Bellion. He said in a statement:

When I visited Pokémon Café while touring Japan, I was very nostalgic. I took it back in my junior high year. So when I called to be part of the 25th anniversary celebration with Post Malone and J Balvin, I was thrilled. The themes of the song-strength, burning your inner light-have guided my life and so have the story and character of Pokémon. Pikachu is the evolving form of Pichu, so in the video, you see a much smaller version of me with Pichu and me today with Pikachu. We’re both changing, though a sense of play remains.

Pokémon’s 25th anniversary was previously gifted around the world with a Post Malone cover of Hootie and Blowfish’s song “Just Wants To Be With You. ”A record gathering, Pokémon 25: The Album, is set to come out this fall by Capitol Records.

Earlier this year, Perry made “Firework” to break up President Joe Biden’s inaugural celebration. Read Katy Perry’s part on Pitchfork’s list “The 200 Best Songs of 2010. ”
