The September 25 episode of Sister Wives Taken at the end of March 2021, weeks later Christine Brown told Kody Brown that he was done with their marriage and eventually away from him to Utah. After weeks of living separate lives, Kody and Christine spent their 27th wedding anniversary, while he was in Utah with their daughter, Mykelti, who is about to give birth. “Before I left, I said, ‘Our anniversary is coming up and on our anniversary I’m not going to pretend, I’m not going to post anything on social media,'” explained Christine. “He was like, ‘Maybe we should post something for our kids and everything.’ I’m just saying…you know what…no.”
Kody admitted that part of the reason he asked Christine about the post was because she was “testing” him. However, his answer gave him an explanation. “This is the first time I’ve ever been, okay, wow, he’s serious about it,” Kody said. “I think I’d like to keep trying it, though. You never know when he’ll realize that the life he’s looking to make somewhere else isn’t better than what he has or has.
Kody also confirmed that he and Christine didn’t have “any contact” on their anniversary, and claimed that it was “confirmation” to him that their marriage was completely over. Meanwhile, Christine revealed that she no longer wears her wedding rings. “I feel like they’re a bond, actually with you,” she shared. “About three months ago, I asked him not to come, and I went up to my room and took my rings. Gosh, it feels so good to just take them.”
However, Christine still has fond memories of her relationship with Kody. “Kody and I were never legally married,” she explained. “It was a spiritual marriage, so I don’t know at what point the marriage is technically OVER because there is no real marriage contract. Kody and I have been married for 26 years. It’s been a long time since you’ve been together. We had a lot of great times, we have beautiful children and we are both who we are today because of the marriage and the time we spent together. So it’s not a failure.”
Christine stands by her decision to leave Kody, reiterating that the lack of intimacy in their marriage is what drove her away. However, Kody insists that the lack of intimacy is because he no longer trusts her because he threatened to leave her during a conversation with other family members behind his back. However, he admits that he regrets how he handled the situation. “I should be fine not that kind of anger,” he revealed. “I wish I could have just said, ‘We have to work on some things.’””
