The Killers released their seventh studio album Pressure Machine, via Island Records. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify.
Coming exactly one year after the release of Implementing the Mirage, the project consists of 11 tracks and features collaborative collaboration Phoebe Bridgers (“Running Horses”). Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado of Foxygen teamed up to create the full effort, a concept LP based on stories from residents of his hometown of Nephi, Utah.
Like many musicians, Brandon Flowers and associates. the album recorded after the COVID-19 pandemic that they were forced to cancel their tour plans. on a conversation with consequences, Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. explains how restraining everyone puts the band in mindset to record Pressure Machine.
“We were a bit different at this top, this point where we could actively pull the plug and say, ‘All right, hunker down, let’s make another record. We’re already in that mode,'” he recalls Vannucci Jr., continued,
“Obviously we didn’t do game shows, but our hearts went out to the bands as well, especially the kid’s mid-swing mid-tour bands that were trying to do it. It was kind of sad. and put us in a small zone of thinking… how we used to feel in our lives… ”
Flowers talked about creating a record centered on his small town and the people who live there. “I just really melted my memories,” he explains. “And trying to do justice to the stories I almost fell in love with.”
In 2022, The Killers will begin a extensive North American tour to support both Implementing the Mirage and Pressure Machine from August to October.
