Stevie Nicks performed “Landslide” as a tribute to his late Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie when he launched “Two Icons, One Night” co-headlining tour with Billy Joel on Friday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The moving rendition, which closed Nicks’ first live set since McVie died in late November 2022, showing a photo scroll of the pair together over the years while being soundtracked by the singer’s excellent delivery.
As the song began to wind down, the house lights went down and Nicks bent over the mic stand. She raised her head as the lights came back on, revealing her tears as she thanked the audience and shared, “There’s not much more to say. Earlier in her solo set, Nicks paid tribute to Tom Petty with a cover of “Free Fallin'” and again done their hit duet, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” with Joel joining her on stage to lead. He later returned for the next showcase with his co-headliner to sing “And So It Goes.”

In the past, McVie was celebrated by Nicks in him initial statements following the death of the “Songbird” singer-songwriter. Meanwhile, his fellow Fleetwood Mac members Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood shared their respects in a handwritten letter from the former and an “In Memoriam” performance at the 2023 Grammys from the latter, along with Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt.
